Chayaike Pond is surrounded by 200 year old beech forests.
The pond is named for a tea house ("chaya") that stood on the shoreline generations ago, serving travelers making their way over the Sekida Pass. Now, visitors enjoying a stroll through the wooded area can take a break at the Chayaike House rest area.
Two walking paths offer lake views, the Ikemawari (Lake Perimeter) Course - 1.1 km - and the Bunabayashi (Beech Forest) Course - 0.8 km. This is one of the best places in the city to breathe fresh air while enjoying gorgeous natural views! Forest Therapy courses, shown to reduce stress, are also available.
